Persia wants to fly.
She's spent her life among the Silken. She's lethal with sword, bow or bare hands. She soars under a silk sail like an eagle. She's risen to the rank of centurion, second only to her former mentor, Liberia.
Now Liberia has decided her days of flying and fighting are over. Her decades of fighting have caught up with her, and it's time for her to retire to the mulberry fields and grow silk for the younger mercenaries.
But Liberia has one last mission for Persia: she's to accompany a diplomatic mission to the city of Jazeera. She finds herself in a world of hidden intentions that's very different to the battlefields she's spent her life on. Dangers are hidden and everything means more than it appears.
There are opportunities in this murky world. There may even be a chance to fly again. If only she can decide who to trust.
And who to kill.
