Dave Currie and Gina Gornak are French lab partners at Charboleau High School in cold, wet, southern Indiana. On the fateful day, November 14, 1977, they meet at Dave's house.
On the way to school, Dave looks at Gina in an entirely new way. He asks to himself the fundamental question; “Why is it that I see one Gina and everyone else sees one so opposite? Why is it that I don't see the same person they do?” The more he thinks about it, the less things add up.
At lunchtime, he discovers a very weakened Gina at her locker. He suspects she is hiding something but very diplomatically gives her lunch money so she can eat a healthy meal. There is a secret she is hiding very well, which he will discover later. Dave pledges his support, a promise to find out why she is known as the 'motorcycle whore' as well as the 'ragdoll' and to clear her name.
Can he do this despite the villain, Carl Peterson, who is intimidating the entire school against her? Dave, as Student Attorney, presents his case for Gina. Will this be enough to protect Gina? Will Dave have to accept that she will always be thought of as a ‘ragdoll?’
